WhatsApp Wrapped is committed to protecting your privacy. This page explains how we handle your data when you use our service.

What Data Do We Collect?

• An anonymized version of your uploaded WhatsApp chat export file (text only).
• The results generated from your chat data (7 days only).

How Is Your Data Used?

• Your chat data is processed to generate your personalized Wrapped analysis.
• We anonymize participant names (e.g., "Person 1", "Person 2"), and remove all personal data we can find e.g. addresses, phone numbers.
• Analysis results are only stored so you can revisit and share them (for 7 days).

How Long Is Data Stored?

• Your wrapped results are automatically deleted after 7 days.
• Anonymized chat data will be retained for research purposes for up to one year or until our research is complete.
• You may request deletion at any time by contacting us.

Do We Share or Sell Your Data?

• No. We will never share, sell, or use your data for advertising, marketing, or any other purpose.
• Your data is never shared with third parties, except as required by law.

How Is Data Protected?

• All data is transmitted securely using HTTPS.
• Stored data is protected using industry-standard security practices.

What research are you doing?

• We are looking at patterns in how people use Whatsapp groups, especially in local groups.
• One of the main questions is around the type of common questions people ask each other.
• All research analysis will be at a high level, using anonymised data, and will not be looking at any personal information.
